Things to Consider

Electrical Outlet

In the case of the violin and guitar duo, access to an electrical outlet is required. West Coast Strings will provide the extension cord if needed.

Storage for the instrument cases

For the purposes of quality photos, it is advised that there is an area (closet or corner) in which the musicians can store their instrument
cases to avoid the pile up of cases and personal effects in the photos.

Adequate lighting

West Coast Strings musicians regularly bring their stand lights for outdoor events taking place later in the evening, but please advise
us if there is inadequate lighting indoors as well.

Weather protected area for outdoor events

The employer is responsible for providing a weather‐protected area for the musicians at all times. The musicians will not perform without
a canopy, tent or awning to protect their instruments from direct sunlight, falling debris or rain.

If damage to the instruments should occur as a result of inadequate or lack of a weather‐protected area, the employer will be held
responsible for financially compensating the musicians for any instrument repairs needed and for the depreciation of their monetary value.

Our main concerns are for the safety of our instruments and our ability to provide quality music..

Armless Chairs

To facilitate the set up of the West Coast Strings ensembles, please have one armless chair per musician available in advance of their
arrival to the event.

Placement of the musicians

In the case of wedding ceremonies, it is strongly advised that the musicians be placed on the opposite side of the signing table.

Placing the musicians behind the guests has proven to be challenging as we are seated and often the guests are standing in front
of us obstructing our view of the ceremony.

In the case of the violin and guitar duo, please place the musicians close enough to an electrical outlet, so that guests do not accidentally
trip or pull on the extension cord.

Cueing the Musicians for the Wedding Ceremony

In our experience, the best cues to start the music for the processional have come from the Marriage Commissioners, Wedding Planners
or Event Co-ordinators for the location. This is the most important part of the ceremony and should be left to the wedding professionals.
